WIW to get kicked off the jury

Here are several recent outfits.  Anna's thread about what do you look for in a WIW made me think it might be fun to present a collection of recent outfits.

1.  Worn to get excused from jury duty.  I purposely tried to look "different" so I would get excused.  I went through 4 hours of Voir Dire, then the attorneys have the right to excuse certain people without explanation (forgot the term for it).  It happens this way every time.  The prosecutor excuses me.  How can they tell that I am predisposed to support the underdog AND I feel a high burden of proof must come upon the prosecutors and police etc.  They seem to suss this out every time (defense attorneys have never excused me).

Outfit:  Raquel Allegra top, UO harem pants, Zara slides.

2.  Worn to my boyfriend's daughter's 8th grade graduation.  My hair was not this untidy!

Outfit:  Zara top, H&M track pants, Nordtsrom (brand?) ankle strap pumps.

3.  Brunch with boyfriend's family the day after graduation.

Outfit:  Madewell tee, Splendid sandals, Levi's jeans, J Crew boy's belt.

4.  I spent a few days in SF last week.  I love this Zara sweater but it is starting to get lopsided, even though it hasn't gone through the wash.  Oh Zara, ephemeral Zara.

Outift:  Zara sweater, UO jeans, Vic Italy booties.

5.  Another SF outfit:  Just Female leather moto, Diesel Black Gold sweater, Rag & Bone jeans, H&M tote bag.

Which is/are your favorites?  Thanks for looking and commenting!

Looking at these pictures I have noticed how I have gone back to lower priced shopping.  Not entirely but more than last year.  I have some thoughts about that, which I might share at a later point.

#1 and #5 immediately draw my eye, and they are quite stylisticly different.  Interesting.  Love to hear your thoughts on lower range purchases.  I am fighting that tendency after realizing how prevalent it became this year for me.

  • kkards replied 9 years ago

i'm going to tag #1 in case i need a "get out of jury duty" outfit!
like mo, my fav's are #1 and #5. i think its the simple lines and shape of these looks.

  • Cerinda replied 9 years ago

Yes to #1 and #5 for sheer chic, but #2 and #3 have the casual event-appropriate vibe I'm trying to develop.  Thanks for letting me see.

  • merwoman replied 9 years ago

My favs are #1 the jury excusing outfit, #2 and #5.  You look gorgoeus in all outfits, but my sweet eye for black and white is coming through I didn't realize I had a wardrobe hole  (JEO)- but there it is. I've been called twice in the last 18 months and have had my director write a letter to excuse me.  I would very willingly serve time on a jury - but I need > 2 weeks notice.

  • pil replied 9 years ago

Denise, they are all super looks. I am drawn to 2 and 3 but also really like 1 and 5.

  • replied 9 years ago

2 and 5 are my absolute favourites, but I really like all of these.

  • Thistle replied 9 years ago

Interesting. I have never been called for jury duty. The process totally intrigues me, but I have a feeling I wouldn't be allowed to stay either.

Still, you looked fab in the outfit. #1 is my favorite. It really feels like your style.

  • AviaMariah replied 9 years ago

My favorites are #1 and #3.  The "get out of jury free" outfit because it's spunky and fun and in #3 I love the the triangle shape the necklace against the stripes.

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

You are always so together, Denise!

re. jury duty: I write right on the form that "cops do not get the benefit of a doubt."

  • Gracie replied 9 years ago

Good tips on dressing to avoid jury duty – will keep them in mind. All outfits look great but my favorite is #2, the silky track pants with the patterned pointy toe pumps plus the clean shape of the top... winner in my book!

  • shedev replied 9 years ago

Clothes to get out of jury duty. That's brilliant. I seem to have embraced higher end shopping this year but I know I'll swing back the other way soon. I'd also love to hear your thoughts on the topic.

  • annagybe replied 9 years ago

    Love #1 and #3 especially.

  • Susie replied 9 years ago

Wow these all look great, Denise. I love your strategy for jury duty!

My favorite look is #2. Probably my love of black and white and pointy toes.

  • Astrid replied 9 years ago

All great looks, my favourites are #1 and #3.

How lovely to be treated to some of your WIW's :) I think all are fabulous, but I find myself drawn particularly to 2,3 and 5. You look great in white and black, but also the pinky/peach tone of your pointy necklace and the stripes of the top in 3 suits you so well.

  • Jeanie replied 9 years ago

Good strategy you clever girl!  I am drawn to #1 & #3 for some reason. Interested to hear you thoughts on lower priced wear.

  • deb replied 9 years ago

Love #2 and #4 but you look so good in all of them. I have never thought of dressing to get dismissed from jury duty. So clever of you.

  • carter replied 9 years ago

    Totally LOVE the pink sweater!

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

My favorites are 1 and 3. The pink color of the sweater looks lovely on you but the fit floods you...more than fluid.

All great outfits, Denise. My personal faves are 2 and 5. In 2, I like the chic and dressy look, with those delicate shoes. A very elegant, stylish look--great for the occasion. What I like about 5 is the bit of schoolboy charm with the buttoned sweater under the super-cool white moto. Love the distressed jeans, the fab boots.
I really like your picnic outfit--again, just perfect for the occasion. You look stylish while casual and relaxed. I like the necklace in this outfit and the previous one--nice way to pull different effects from it. I feel in the dressy outfit the necklace adds some spunk or fun, and in the second one it kind of dresses up the look a bit.

Funny bit about jury duty. I like the outfit, though!

Do I recognize a Nordstrom ladies' room in pic 4? Is that sad or hilarious or both?

  • Niki Lea replied 9 years ago

In #2 the necklace initially looked like a tiny orange bow tie and I nearly squealed with joy! Ha ha! I still love it. :)
Hilarious, too, that you dressed purposefully to get out of jury duty! What a great story. My boobs once got me out of jury duty. I was nursing my second child at the time - they were surprisingly understanding about it all.

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

These are great outfits  & obviously project what you want to project which is always good :)

  • Aubergine replied 9 years ago

They're all so different, yet feel like they obviously came from the same (awesome) wardrobe! And the idea of dressing to get out of jury duty is hilarious. I vaguely remember from criminal procedure class that it's maybe called a peremptory dismissal. Or a peremptory something.

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

Denise you gorgeous woman you! I love looking at your outfit posts, such good eye candy ^^ The variety here is great, in terms of color, trendiness, dressiness. And all within a fairly similar silhouette range. Very impressive.

The west coast casual-cool of #1 is super. How funny that it helped you to not be picked. I adore #2, totally want to wear that myself. The shape of that top is amazing. The pairing of the orange and pink with the white in #3 is delicious; literally, makes me want to eat gelato. I don't know that I've seen the sweater in #4 before but how fun is that chunky oversized shape in a bubblegum pink!? Very fun with the red (?) clutch. And #5 with the graphic black/white and neon is too fun. Is that a buttoned up cardigan as a sweater there? I love that idea contrasted against the moto, filing that away to try. Thanks for sharing your wonderful outfits :D

  • MsLuna replied 9 years ago

Coco, I love your outfits! 2,4 and 5 are standouts! I love the jacket on 5, and the proportions/combination on #2 is just so perfect on you!

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

I would love to know the thoughts of all the prosecutors that have dismissed you Denise. I would withhold my thoughts on juries despite temptation to rant. Anyway, I love these of course. I have that Zara sweater and am disappointed but not surprised to see what happened but it still looks great. #2 is my favorite out in a close race.

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Love them all, esp 2 & 3! And oh wow so glad you kept the white moto - does it ever look fab!!

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Deliberately trying to be excused from jury duty. You crack me up. Add that to your skill set, Denise.

I LOVE outfit #2. It has launched me into orbit, and I can't focus on the rest. Killer to the power of Killer.

  • MsMary replied 9 years ago

It's catlled "peremptory challenges," and I have no opinion on trying to get out of jury duty...  ;)

These are all fab!  My super fave is the one with the orange stripes but they are all just amazing!!

  • replied 9 years ago

Denise you are on fi-yah! These all are very "Coco", but there is a special spot in my heart for the not-so-simple black and white outfit.

Funny, I always dress like my conservative self and the defense attorney is the one who excuses me (and I'm not even trying to be excused, MsMary, honest)!

  • AJ replied 9 years ago

Denise, you know how I adore your style! This post is oozing fabulousness! I'm grinning from CC's description that your outfits are very "Coco." Luv it!

#1 has your staple silhouette, but that print on the tank adds an edge to this boho look.

#2 is so striking with the black and white pallet then the little zings of the necklace and shoes.

#3 is so casual chic. The pink and orange scream spring.

#4 is has a fun 80's vibe with the oversize sweater and skinnies.

#5 is definitely city chic. The v-neck cardigan under the moto is FAB!

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Denise, I love each outfit. And I'm a little jealous!! I desperately want to do jury duty yet I have never been called

  • jenanded replied 9 years ago

You ALWAYS look fab! I espesh love 2 in this series...

  • Joyce B replied 9 years ago

Great outfits and useful, too. I need to think of something like that for the other coast, I will accept suggestions...

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

I love 1, 2, 3, 4 ... 5 ...Oh Is that everything? :D. But my super favorite is 2 ... Love that top on you (I bought something similar and it always reminds me of you!)

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

I am like Angie -- #2 sent me running for my crash helmet. Gorgeous on you!  But I also love the white leather jacket outfit and the simple brunch outfit. Looking forward to your views on lower price shopping.

I am not surprised that prosecutor recused you. Anyone who looks cool gets recused that way. If there is a hint of unconventionality about you, or rocker, out you go.
