WIW - Harem pants with a hard edge

It struck me that this ensemble would work well with not only a tube skirt (on my wish list - see below) but also with black harem pants.  Since harem pants, with the dropped crotch, have something skirt-like about them.

Don't you think my dog Maggie, with her sweet face, provides some necessary softness to this hard edge outfit?

Top -- Soft Joie
Harems -- UO
Birks -- Zara

This looks amazing! I think this is a beautiful variation on Angie's formula. Harem Pants being quite a fringe trend do seem to add a natural edge to the outfits they are in. Really lovely ... And edgy!

It works really well Denise. Nicely edgy and a little dramatic. All softened by Maggie :)

Great variation on the formula! You look fab.

Great variation. I love the stripes with the drop shoulder. Really emphasizes the cut! Fun with the harem pants :)

You look so cool you almost make me like harems and birks! ;-) I love that top.

VERY nice. Edge can be easy too, right? Love the fluidity. and in this case the top does not need to work so hard because the bottoms are edged up as well.

Interesting observation about the harem pants! They definitely work in this fab outfit. And cute pups always add an element of softness :) Aww……..

what a great way to interpret the angle's outfit. this is perfect.

  • celia replied 9 years ago

This is a great interpretation of the formula.Love your side way tuck.

  • Gracie replied 9 years ago

Great interpretation. I like the fact that you added a shirt with dark and light stripes, I think it adds a lot of visual interest. I tried the VC shirred skirt from your finds this week and looked a bit va va boom for my style - it added volume to my hips, I felt I needed black stilettos, lol. Maggie is the perfect balancing accessory.

    Ooh I really like this.
I had to retire my harem pants, they were all faded perhaps I should look for a new pair.

    Gah!  Love!!

You need to bring that fabness down south so I can enjoy it in person!!

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

I need to get to UO, clearly. The stripes on the top btw - fantastic!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Yes! I noticed your comment on the blog post, and thought it was a great idea. Glad to see the outfit on you. It works really well. I think the white stripes soften the look from what it would be with all darks. Your dog looks sweet; I think she approves of the outfit.

Thank you for the thumbs up YLF community!  Unfortunately Maggie is having a rough time.  She is on her way to the vet's office right now, being taken by another family member since I have to go to work soon.  She is completely shutting her left eye, it is swollen and full of fluid.  I suspect it might be a foxtail or some other such nuisance "sticker" that is prevalent this time of year.

I hope Maggie's eye is going to be okay! You look really soft and edgy here (which I think really suits you) and it was very clever to think of subbing in harem pants for a tube skirt, to great effect!

    Very nice!

  • Aubergine replied 9 years ago

Definitely looks good! I also love the design of the stripes on the top.

  • ElleH replied 9 years ago

Love the outfit. I don't think it is too hard edge at all.

Love this outfit!  I need harem pants :)

This looks great, I love the transitioning stripe width on the tee, and how you have yin/yang tucked the corner (can that be a thing?  a name for an overlapping side tuck that creates a dark/light interaction? :D).

Also the fit of the tee and pants are perfect together.

    Of course I love this!
