Are these cone heeled shoes dated? And a WIW. ETA- Close Ups of Shoes

Here's a twofer for you:

1.  WIW today for a dinner party.  This came together in about 10 minutes, if that (I actually wore the pants to work).  March might be a little late for burgundy.  What do you think?  Do you feel weird wearing autumnal colors in Spring?

2/3.  Question about these booties.  They are comfortable and I like the low ankle position.  But the cone heels are a little teeter-y and dated.  I've been thinking of getting them re-heeled.  Or is it not worth it, given these shoes also have those Sharpei folds, another dead giveaway for their pre-YLF, 2010 vintage.  Sorry the pictures aren't very close-up, hope you can make out the overall look of them.

Thanks for looking and weighing in!

These still look good to me. I think Marant still does some cone heels. I am not sure why the folds are bad? It does seem like you are not in love with the boots though.

I like the burgundy - if it's cold it is cold no matter what the season imo - this is a great outfit on you.

I'm not a huge fan of the Sharpei folds but I agree the heels are still around. I'm becoming very picky with my footwear - if it isn't right = the outfit doesn't seem to work for me at the moment.

The burgundy looks fine.  If it's a flattering color, the season doesn't matter.  You could add a light or floral scarf if you feel too wintery.
i'll be watching this thread for what is said about the boots as I've got similar heels and folds on booties that didn't see much action this season when snow called for regular boots.  They don't look dated to me yet.

    Great supper outfit!

i don't think the shoes are dated yet.

Denise, I am still seeing this "cone" heel on current footwear.  In fact I am a bit of a fan of this heel type.  I say the booties look great.

andni like your outfit.  Brilliant for only 10 minutes!  I don't worry too much about colours and seasons, so I think the burgundy is great.  Looks great on you:)

March + burgundy works fine to my eye. Had I seen you wearing those boots it wouldn't have occurred to me to think they are dated.

I was out shopping last night and saw burgundy pants for spring - I think wearing burgundy is fine any time of year. As far as the boots, I still see people wearing cone heels, but what are Sharpei folds?
  • Suz replied 11 years ago
Denise, I would wear burgundy through spring and even summer (in the right weight). But then our summers are a lot different from yours! Still, for evening, this looks casually elegant!

Re the booties -- my Reports have a modified cone heel, I think - they are the Dicker copy cat bootie. The heel angles on one side but is straight on the other.

I don't mind burgundy at all in the spring - or any season for that matter, depending on the fabric type and weight. And I love that bomber jacket on you - looks fantastic! I think the heel is find on the booties and don't find them dated at all. If they are comfy and you like them, keep on wearing them.

Still dying over the bomber! I think you look great in the burgundy, I think it is more a fabrication thing.

Cone heels are still around from what I've seen. And the boots look good in the pics. But, I have never liked any footwear with folds, I completely resisted when it was very popular. It must be my poison eye. Sharpei, that made me laugh!
  • Suz replied 11 years ago
Agree with Tina on the folds thing. I have a bit of a poison eye for that, too.
  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago
Thanks everyone.  These shoes have a rather well-executed fold pattern that I don't mind. I posted close-ups above.

It's more the cone heel that I don't like.  And Suz, I don't consider the Report Marks to have an exaggerated cone heel.  These are exaggerated.  I will see if they can be re-heeled, it's worth investigating.

Burgundy-I like your outfit! I'd wear the color year-round, depending on the fabric.

Booties-I don't think they look dated. But interested in seeing what you might do with the heel.

Raglan shirt in #3: is that the Enza Costa shirt? whatever it is, I love it! :-)

Love your WIW's. I like the burgundy. It looks great for an early spring evening--it's still chilly at night. I haven't put my burgundy jeans away yet. I'm thinking it might pair well with white for spring.

Not sure about the booties. They don't look dated to me. If they are comfy, I would still keep them (but I'm not as fashion forward as you.)

Love the bomber with the jeans. I didn't try that yet :)

I had a pair of booties like that - I don't think they are dated, but they were absolutely impossible to walk in when it was icy or snowing, so I got rid of them.   You don't have that problem, obviously!

Your outfit rocks!  And I wear my colors year round, regardless of season.
  • annagybe replied 11 years ago
Isabel Marant did a similar heel in Fall 2012 http://www.barneys.com/Isabel-.....38;index=0 I have more of a poison eye for the folds.
  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago
So the folds are more dated or at least create more of a reaction than the cone heels.  Interesting.

Cathy, the tee is not Enza Costa.  I returned both of the baseball tees to Shopbop, because I found 2 very similar ones from H&M for $12.95 each.  I have this one in black and grey and the other one is white and pale grey.  Same fabric, but Enza requires dry cleaning whereas this one doesn't.  Honestly I would have kept the Enza ones if they didn't require dry cleaning.  What's up with that?

And Una, the heels are still a little hard for me to walk in.  They are Miss Sixty style "Iggy."  I might just be attached to them for the name, being an Iggy Pop fan!
  • Deborah replied 11 years ago
Thanks for the booties close ups.  Clearly I am biased cos I just bought a similar bootie in red with folds like that.  The heel on mine is a wedge.  Seeing them close up, I think they are great.
  • Diana replied 11 years ago
I have boots with this style of heel (although mine are a little wider at the base of the heel) and I think the look is great, not dated at all.  I do find them slightly wobbly though.  I'm another one who is not crazy about the shar-pei folds though, despite the fact that I'm actually wearing booties with them today (which will be replaced next fall).

    Love the burgundy outfit!
  • Angie replied 11 years ago
I love the burgundy outfit too! You can wear that colour year round.

The boots look fine to me. Not at all dated.

You wear a bomber with the best of them, Denise!
  • Sveta replied 11 years ago
I still wear burgundy now and will continue to wear it into summer! The booties are fine.
  • MsMary replied 11 years ago
    I love those booties.

If cone heels are dated, I don't wanna be current!  ;)
