WIW inspired by Team YLF

At the fabulous SSIF I saw Inge AND Greg wear this outfit concept!  It consists of white bottoms plus a black top half.  I took a picture of Greg at Dashielle's fun cocktail party, hoping I could get my boyfriend to wear white jeans.  I haven't succeeded at that yet, but I thought I'd try it myself.  I don't have a picture of Inge's outfit but you can see it in Greg's cocktail party pictures thread here.  She wore white jeans, a white shirt and black cropped(ish) tuxedo jacket and looked even more than K-Power, we need to come up with a term for that -- maybe Infinite Killer?  Ultimate K-Power?

White Kut Catherine boyfriend jeans from 2013 (Nordsrom).
Black Daisy tee from UO, from 2014.
Freebird oxfords from 2013 (Shopbop).

I was worried that the muddy color of the daisy would clash with the white jeans but I think it works with the muddy oxfords.

Thanks for looking and commenting!

I love this look! I tried it last week as well with a black lace top. I think the bright white looks fresh and fab on the bottom. Well done :) :)

Thanks Jackie!  Off to look at your version...

  • Ornella replied 9 years ago

Is this the YLFs first Greg copycat outfit?????

Fab inspirationS and I love your take on it.

  • Sara L. replied 9 years ago

Looks good!  I agree that the color of the daisy looks fine.  I really like jeans and graphic tees so I love this outfit.

  • replied 9 years ago

It totally works Denise! I love how you tee falls and flares a bit. Fun daisy print too.

    Looking good too Greg!

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Ack! You look like the sun itself! What a gorgeous outfit on you. So much fun.

  • Suzanne (ambergreen) replied 9 years ago

Denise, this works great on you, I think the daisy shirt is a great pick (err...no pun intended). And Greg's version is suave. It was grand meeting you--and Greg--at SSIF. :D

Love this and the Greg copycat idea.

  • merwoman replied 9 years ago

Infinite killer look! Simply but very stunning on you. Love Greg's look as well...wish I could get my dear SO to switch it up from jeans...

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

That daisy does the trick- the black doesn't look heavy- it looks Fab :)

  • UmmLila (Lisa) replied 9 years ago

Very nice ... You look like you're in mid-step down the runway.

Now those are some cool shoe-boots! You look so great Denise! BF jeans just make you look tiny (well, you are tiny). I love the black top, and it's nice that the daisy isn't optic white like the jeans. It looks more fashionista that way. I love your copycat inspiration, both of them. I might want to try this look myself!

How funny; I'm wearing white jeans and a black top myself today. I agree that the daisy top works great in the outfit - in fact, the otherwise monochromatic vibe works well to de-sweeten the print which I think matches your personality well.

  • Meredith replied 9 years ago

I think I actually prefer the muddy white of the flower.  Cute look!

  • E replied 9 years ago

I love how the tee is slouchy & cool but the daisy adds a hint of sweetness. And this styling looks very cool too. :)

  • Mia replied 9 years ago

    So fab.

I noticed all the white jeans in the photos of the Inge Fest and thought they looked so fresh.  I feel like the only woman still wearing them here even though it is still 20 degrees C today.

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 9 years ago

Denise, I think it is great that your imagination took Greg's outfit and translated it into a look that works so well for you.  I think the white on the flower works well and the yellow adds a nice hit of color to a B&W outfit.  Very cool.

This is such a fantastic look. The daisy is just playful enough and the black and white support act pieces are so much more fun with the white on the bottom!

I must admit to this (black top/white bottom) being one of my favorite fall back formulas since seeing Angie sport it last year:

You are wearing it with the best of them here :)

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

You look great in this CL - love that tee on you.
I also love a dark top & shoe with white jeans - it really balances my top-heavy body :)

  • replied 9 years ago

Super cute - love the shape of the top and your shoes are awesome !  Great look :)

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

Love it - mixed whites don't bother me at all!

  • tulle replied 9 years ago

Like E, I love the sweet+edge effect of the white & black with giant daisy.  What a great t-shirt!

  • Debbie replied 9 years ago

Love it! The inspiration photo looks great too!

  • amiable replied 9 years ago

Love this too - and have had this color combination on my radar to try recently.  I'll have to actually do that...

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

What dianthus said! This is so much more than a dark top /white jeans combo. Your daisy tee makes it especially great for your coloring and your style. Those oxfords and the perfect slouchy fit of the jeans add your extra dose of cool.

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

I love this look! It's the only way I've worn white bottoms successfully which is not often. Very inspiring.

  • Dixie replied 9 years ago

Such an unique and fun look. I know it's technically simple but I like the style and the brightness the shirt brings in. I also love your hair! You have the whole package.

  • Lynne replied 9 years ago

What Ornella said :)......and, FWIW, I think the off-white and yellow of the daisy work better than an optical white would; they're interesting and add some depth to the combination.  I love the loose fit of the top with the more fitted bottoms.

  • viva replied 9 years ago

Love this. And those shoes are pretty amazing.

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

Yes, aperfect formula! Big love! I do it often form myself, too! In fact, is the only way I wear my wehite jeans nowaday:-)

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

Fun! I rather like the addition of the muddy shades in the tee/shoes, it's an interesting way to add some visual texture while keeping the look fairly graphic.

  • Inge replied 9 years ago

Greg looked spectacular in his white jeans, didn't he! and I am tickled pink (and blushing profoundly) that you loved my cocktail party outfit, Denise, thank you so much for the very sweet words.

Your version of this black and white look shows how creative you are, and that you have such an excellent eye for detail and colour. LOVE this outfit! The colour of the XL daisy print that echoes the colour of the oxfords is such a brilliant touch. The slightly muddier tones add outfit depth, while the white jeans and black tee background keep things crisp and graphic. The large print and high-low hemline of the tee also add a playful element, which I adore.

You are an extremely stylish lady, Denise, and you bet I was taking notes while admiring all your gorgeous SSIF outfits.

  • Fiona replied 9 years ago

    That tee = ♥

  • Greg replied 9 years ago

I am honored to have inspired an outfit, but I feel completely outclassed by the result. :-)

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Greg is an inspiration in many ways, and so are you, Denise. I vote both outfits K-Word worthy. xo

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Of course, you both had me with the white jeans. xo

  • Beth Ann replied 9 years ago

I love inspiration from other fabbers!  Inge and Greg have helped you put together a real winning combination.  Fits and silhouette are spot on, and the overall effect is fashionable, but also legitimately lovely and fun!

P.S.  I missed daisies when I lived in SoCal.  Do they grow out in your area?
