WIW - Should I keep this jacket?

1 -- What do you think about this BR stretch wool blazer?  Today made casual with boyfriend jeans and a white tee.
2 -- Here is the same blazer worn to a Food Show on Tuesday.  In hindsight a non-faded pair of pants would have worked better.  As you can see the sleeves are rather long.
3 -- Back to today, I switched into my FP navy sweater instead of the blazer in #1, I think navy is better on me.
4 -- But I was still uncertain so I later switched into my grey skinnies as the boyfriend jeans seemed a little stumpifying even with the tall booties.   Not sure which version I liked better!  Disadvantaged lighting in #4.

So -- back to the question, is the blazer a Yay or a Nay?  Thank you!!

Oh wow. I really like it! The length is beautiful on you and the fit looks good. You look stunning especially in that first photo!

And are those the COH skinnies?

  • kellygirl replied 10 years ago

Love the shape of it on you. It's very sleek! Adore the FP sweater--especially with the grey jeans. Very fab!

  • Ariadne replied 10 years ago

It's gorgeous.  Keep, as long as it'll work for your lifestyle.  Link?

  • kkards replied 10 years ago

another vote for keep the blazer, i especially like it in #1. the navy sweater is fab, and like both outfits, they both work really well.

  • viva replied 10 years ago

I like the blazer too, what a gorgeous picture in #2 -- the styling, your gaze, everything! I actually think the contrast between faded skinnies and the sharp jacket works really well. I love the entire look here. I also love the sweater. The proportions in these outfits are so great on your figure.

  • peacechick replied 10 years ago

I like the blazer and think you look amazing in #2. Navy looks softer on you but black looks sharp and that's good too.

  • El Cee replied 10 years ago

The blazer is beautiful and fits you perfectly. It looks like it would be a versatile piece as it would work well both dressed up and dressed down. Navy may be a better (softer) neutral for you, but you look lovely in black as well. I vote "Yay".

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Yay for the blazer. I like #2 best as creating drama with the black and white, but the contrast with greatly distressed jeans in #1 works too.
The sweater looks both elegant and comfortable. I like it best in #4, but I'm Team Dressy.

What is it you don't like about the blazer? I think it looks fantastic. Also love the sweater. You really know your style and what flatters you.

  • replied 10 years ago

I really like it too -- keep!

  • donnat replied 10 years ago

Love the blazer, its a keeper

  • Neel replied 10 years ago

Another keep vote!  The blazer looks gorgeous on you!  The sleeves when scrunched are just perfect.  The boyfriend jeans looks good too, but I am always stumped for shoe choices with them, so I might not be the best person to suggest anything on that.

The last outfit does look stunning!  Great choice!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Denise, I agree that you look fantastic in navy. Love today's outfit (well, it must be yesterday's now, as I read...)

I do think navy is more flattering, but I also think we all need a black jacket in the closet. (Said by one who is currently on the hunt). This one looks great on you. Is it the one that Diana almost bought? (The one button suit jacket?) Or is it another? I sent back the BR tux jacket because the sleeve fit was not right on me and could not be altered to work.

  • Janet replied 10 years ago

I like the blazer on you, especially with the sleeves scrunched. The faded jeans look great with it, no need to question that decision. I also like the other outfits -- you look great!

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Yay! It reminds me of the jacket in today's post. You look great in all 4 pictures!

  • texstyle replied 10 years ago

I think it looks great on you - esp. the way you styled it. All great outfits here - navy is wonderful too but I think you can wear black with ease.

  • Emily replied 10 years ago

I really like the blazer on you.  The fit looks perfect and the sharp shoulder is cool and modern.  I think you wear black well.

  • Word Lily replied 10 years ago

What do you dislike / makes you unsure about the blazer? Looks like a good one to me.

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

I agree with Suz -- navy is best for you, but everyone can you a stunning black blazer, and this one is classic-modern.  It isn't trendy, but has a little longer length and lower stance, making it work with your closet.  I love #1, particularly.

  • carambola replied 10 years ago

I think the blazer is stunning on you. Love all 4 outfits. Your legs do look a mile long in 4, but I like the vibe in 3 and don't see stumpification.

  • AviaMariah replied 10 years ago

Please keep that jacket!  I love the shoulder line on you.  A very classic look and, like Suz said, everyone needs a good black jacket even if it's not your best color.

  • rae replied 10 years ago

I love the blazer with the sleeves scrunched, but the sleeves do overwhelm you when down. Maybe take up the sleeves and then you can wear it both ways?

  • karymk replied 10 years ago

I feel like the blazer is a little big on you? I can see it in the shoulders and arm length.  I bet you can find a better fit out there.

The BF pic does not look stupefying; you look great in this pic and I love how you wore that necklace for interest.  It pulls the outfit together. Number 4 looks just as good.

  • Parsley replied 10 years ago

I really like the blazer on you, including the sort of BF fit, but I agree that it seems to work best with the sleeves scrunched. A black blazer is awfully handy to throw on over jeans or whatever when you want to look a bit more put together but not trying too hard.
I'm glad you kept the navy cardigan, too. It looks great on you.

  • deb replied 10 years ago

It is classic so I vote keep.

  • replied 10 years ago

I like the blazer with the sleeves scrunched.  I don't see stumpy with the BF but I like the gray skinnys too.

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

Thank you for all of the responses.  Sorry to post and run, I have a lot more ahead of me today but I will check in again late at night.  The BR jacket is from almost 2 years ago.  But this jacket looks identical and has the same stretch wool fabric.

Una, the jeans are Free People crops.  I decided against the COH, I've never fit that brand well.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Ah. Alas. Tis not identical. New one is the 2 button style I tried and rejected as too staid. :( I'm mad, because it fits me brilliantly. But just doesn't work style-wise. And the tux jacket, which does work style-wise, doesn't fit as well. GRRRR.

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

A hundred thumbs up on the black blazer.

I prefer #3 to #4, but #4 is fabulous too. How about low contrast skinnies next time round?

  • Marley replied 10 years ago

Denise - I am just in awe of your style.  It is soooo uniquely you and I love looking at your WIW's - and also, your pics!  They look like a magazine spread!  As far as the blazer goes - I love it with the sleeves scrunched and I love it with all the different tops and bottoms that you have shown here.  Could you shorten the sleeves so that you could have the option of wearing them unscrunched if you wanted?  I also love the FP sweater - and am amazed that you can wear a cardigan and not look frumpy!  I noticed that you don't have a belt on in the first pic - and I'm sure that that was intentional on your part.  May I ask what it was that made you decide to not wear a belt?  I never know for sure if I should wear one - I've seen a lot of cool outfits with and without a belt - and I always wonder what it is that determines to belt or not to belt!?

  • Mo replied 10 years ago

    I'm late here, but Yay!

  • Aida replied 10 years ago

Big yay on the BR blazer from me, it looks fabulous! #3 and 4 both also look great, but I do prefer #3 :)

  • unfrumped replied 10 years ago

I think the blazer looks fab! I only wish I could get that effect.
You will have to judge the fit up close (armholes, draping)--but the overall effect is nicely fluid and slightly BF-like and that is what looks so great.

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

That black blazer looks exceptionally nice on you. Please keep.

  • carter replied 10 years ago

I like the blazer, but honestly, all I see is that your legs are a mile long, and I am so friggin' jealous!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Fantastic blazer Denise - definitely keep and get the sleeves shortened (says the gal who still needs to get the sleeves shortened on my Theory blazer...)

Love the sweater in the last two pics too.

  • Jjsloane replied 10 years ago

I like the blazer but I am blown away by #3. LOVE that. NO stumpifying in sight.

  • rebekahphoto replied 10 years ago

I really like this blazer on you, and a nice contrast to the softer sweaters & cardigans. But my eye is really drawn to the necklace! so sharp and cool

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

#1 is my favorite. I love the necklace, very graphic shiny and slick with the organic distressed denim. I like the length of the jacket on you and the shape/structure. The sleeves seem a little long to my eye but the jacket looks fabulous with the sleeves scrunched.

  • AJ replied 10 years ago

    Blazer is a keeper!

I don't think you need ever worry about bf jeans cutting your leg line. You have heels and lovely long legs.

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

    Another late Yay!

  • Asingh replied 10 years ago

    YAY, for sure! :)
