WIW - Same look for 3rd Season

I wore this on Wednesday to eat Japanese food and do some local shopping with my guy.  I realized this is a go-to look for me (and probably lots of other women) and I haven't changed it for some time.  I think I am mentally ready to change things up, but am also feeling content right here and not sure where I want to go next as I seem to keep buying things with the same look (my recent cardigan k/r thread).

Sweater from last year -- Vince.  It is horribly pilled!  I will never buy another 70 wool 30 cashmere sweater again.  I have cheap cashmere that cost me 25% of this and it looks much better, but I do like the cut of this cardigan and it matches the jeans really well.  This is a deep brownish-green that reads as almost black but is a nice color on me (although you can't tell from the photo).

Jeans from 2 years ago -- Rag & Bone

Wedge oxfords from 3 years ago -- DV

Print top is from last year -- Velvet

The only thing that is from this year is the iPhone.  With one of those pricey but not chic Lifeproof waterproof cases.

Picture #2 -- this jacket came home with me from TJs.  It's from Young, Fabulous and Broke.  For the Middle-aged, Content but less-Broke me.  What do you think?  Very wearable and my boyfriend liked it but I'm not sure it's taking me anywhere exciting.

ETA -- the necklace is new!  I forgot.  From Kenneth Jay Lane, I like the pretty color it delivers near my face.

Denise, I would call it a signature look and it is fabulous! Love the new jacket. From the look of it, you should be calling yourself Young, Fabulous, and Less-broke. You ARE a fabulous thing!

ETA: see how I managed to squeeze the word fabulous three times into one paragraph, and rightly so.

    Ooh I like the jacket!
I think Vince has gone down in quality.
My iphone case is pink Otter Box Defender. Durable and easy to spot.

You look modern and classy.  Judging from what I see women wearing around here, your look is very current.  I love the color of the necklace--could you give us a closer look at it?

Perhaps instead of looking at a different clothing style you might want to consider adding more striking pieces of jewelry like this one.

Denise, although our styles are constantly evolving I personally do not find the process steady, I find it often flatlines before spiking, Perhaps a change is coming but when you look this good (and comfortable in your style choices) as you do I would not force it.

Or to use another analogy there is a difference between a broken record and playing an all time favourite track on repeat.

I Will follow this thread with interest :)

If it's not broken, don't fix it. You look wonderfully on trend in a relaxed way - as always. And your "uniform" suits you, Denise. (Sorry about the pilling).

Loving the new jacket. It's a solid 10.

And while we're talking about style evolution, you came into this forum wearing lots and lots of flares. Suits you too. Perhaps you'll take that path next along your journey.

Denise you always do a good job of updating things, just enough, to keep your signature silhouettes feeling fresh. I think with the top being within the year and the necklace being new, you've got enough "current" in the look, you know? LOVE the necklace by the way, and totally dig the jacket in #2.

I think your in a stye "happy place" right now.  You have a signature look, and it's still modern and flattering and right for you.  If you need variety, you can always add refreshers or give yourself a challenge.  Perhaps a flare week?

This is a great formula that suits you (and me!) so why not keep it going?  Sorry about the Vince though - I just bought a 100% cashmere one and now you have me worried.  Bleah on pilling.

You look great! If you're ready to evolve, you will. And in the meantime, you continue to tweak and refine and look fantastic doing so. Love the new jacket and the necklace.

  • peacechick replied 10 years ago

I think you look really edgy but I can understand getting bored with a formula, no matter how terrific. Change is fun. I'm looking forward to it!

I'm not sure preferring a silhouette means you're stuck at all!  I am very slow to change silhouettes that work for me, but there are lots of other ways to change things up. As usual you look wonderful--you really can do no wrong in my eyes.

I like your look, too. And don't you sometimes wear BF jeans now? Come on, be fair to yourself. :)
I do love the black alternatives like this color you're wearing. The top and necklace add a dash of pretty to the outfit, too. The new jacket is very cool--oversized puts a neat spin on the moto look.

Ug about the pilling.  I just went to look at a pilling Vince pullover I have from last year and it's 70 wool/30 cashmere, too.  I didn't even wear it that many times, and it was expensive.

Both outfits look great to my eye.  I love the silhouette in #1, and the new jacket is fab!

This still looks very current and flattering to me. I love the print top. I love cardigans because I tend to run hot and cold during the day and a pullover is often too much of a commitment. I think the moto looks great. Looks like it has a nice sharp cut and is still cozy. The textured print could be fun to play with.
