WIW -- Alaskagirl Copycat

Una has these same jeans and raved about them.  So I've copied her!  I love them too.  At first I got them on Shopbop where they were over $200.  Then she found a pair on eBay for $90.  So I returned the pricey ones and opted for the cheaper pair.  They are fine, although MUCH bigger in the waist than the $200 pair (same size).  The $90 pair had a mark in the label, they were advertised as pre-owned but it seems they hadn't been worn and there was still a plastic hang  tag thread on it.  Do you think marked clothes are actually defective?  Or were they from a store, tried on a lot and stretched out?  The deep mysteries of retail.

#2 outfit is what I wore yesterday, we're having cooler weather. The high neck print top with the low stance jacket was an experiment, I'm not sure I like it.

I think #1 is fab! the loose kimono type jacket and top are gorgeous together and your jeans look great. What a good buy.
I like #2 but I'm not as taken with it as #1 I think it is something to do with the proportions, possibly the high band of black on the neck of the top which is distracting, not sure. I love the jacket though. Perhaps the two items just weren't meant to play together.

The jeans look really nice on you, Denise.

I like both outfits very much. I see what Diane means about the black neck band. It seems to extend right into the shoulder line. I think that's an interesting visual though. For someone like me with a short neck it would not be flattering, but that's not the case for you.

The jeans look great. The kimono outfit is lovely. The tiger top outfit is very dramatic and I think the low stance on the jacket works well with it. The line of the dark neck band is quite compelling. It frames your face beautifully but the black is fighting for attention somewhat with the black of the jacket. (getting very picky here because actually you look fab, period.)

Great jeans! I like look 2 a lot. I think you should keep experimenting with this silhouette.

    Love the kimono look also.

Love both. That kimono is so your style.

I never know what that mark on the label means. Sometimes it means it stopped t loehman's or oe such resaler before ebay. Sometimes t means old as is...but hever specifies what "is" is. Sorry bill (that just leaves cheksea i haven't asked firgiveness of today.)

Well, I love them both, Denise! Amazing. You were blazing the kimono trail before the rest of us, and you wear yours so well. The new jeans look super fab! I like the top in #2, too, and do not see a problem with the neckline. How does it look/ feel from the side? I know you prefer to let your clavicles show, but here this seems to work to my eye...

These are both just fab!  You were born to wear the kimono look, for sure!  And I like #2, although I kind of want to add a pendant necklace for some more verticality, even though I know that would interfere with the print on the blouse.

Both fab! #1 is such a Denise look. The jeans look great. I think the black mark generally means it was sent to a discounter like tj maxx, and it's meant to prevent you from returning it to the original store. No idea why the waist is bigger. Maybe it'll shrink back with a wash?

    KILLER Kimono outfit!

Love the new jeans and to my eye the experiment was a success. You are not used to covering your collar bones - that's all :)

Yay, glad the Ebay jeans worked! I bet they were stretched out on the sales floor. They look great with the kimono - love the contrast between that and the moto. Like old Japan meets Tokyo Drift. :)

I think the experiment went well, too. The low stance helps show the print, too, I think. With a solid top it might be too much expanse of torso, but maybe that's me because I like to visually chop up my long chest area.

Is that kimono one of the Zara ones that Angie recently featured on her blog post? I love this on you - so fab with the jeans. I like how the addition of the long pendant necklace elongates the overall look.

And #2 is perfect as is - it's just different for you. I absolutely adore that silky tee on you.

Who knows what that mark on the label means. I've read that some eBay sellers will mark the label so that you can't return the jeans to a store for credit. Do you think that could be it? I will be the larger waist is from people trying on the jeans.

    New jeans look great.
I like #2 but would prefer the cuff rolled higher or unrolled.

  • Isis replied 10 years ago

I like both of these!  #2 definitely works, to my eye.
The kimono is so you, Denise, perfect for your style!

    Hi Ms CL --

Technically l like both of these on you but I really, really love the way #1 works with your coloring, your proportions, and your patented CL vibe.

  • Adelfa replied 10 years ago

You look terrific in both but I agree with Vix that there's some sort of resonant frequency you're hitting in #1. Don't know how to describe it but the look just sings.
