WIW Harem Pants and Cropped Top

Here's what I wore to spend a fabulous day with some of the LA ladies of YLF -- Rae, MaryK and Adelfa.

The pants and sweater are from UO.  The top underneath is fairly old, it shrank but is perfect for this seater.  This outfit was very comfortable, I took sneakers along just in case but the Newbury's worked fine.  The second picture shows the outfit with a leather moto but I didn't need that either, the weather was in the 70s.

The picture's a bit blurry and perhaps a different lip shade would have brought more color to my face, but this look is not about conventional figure or color flattery.  I like that I figured out a way to wear a cropped top without baring any skin.  The pants have a  high waist.

Thanks for looking and commenting!

This feels very Avant Gard to me Denise. I think the proportions work well and I like the layering. Cool.

Oooh I really like those pants! The cropped top is nice too.

Killer (And I am hard to please with all black outfits).

Fashion forward, texture-rich, and fabulous. I love the white horizontal line across the middle of the top. Rock on. xo

Thanks Diane, Ceit and Angie!  This outfit came with a high happiness factor.

Bravo!!! Great way to wear a cropped top! I like to not show skin as well!

Nicely done CL.  You have a real knack for putting together interesting outfits.

Gorgeous!  I love the harem pants, and the sweater is really pretty.

This looks like quite a 'daring' outfit to me, and you wear it so well Denise!
I like the white underneath breaking-up the all-black, and the bare-leg above your boots.

  • carambola replied 10 years ago

This is so cool! You wear all black amazingly well.

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

    This is perfect imo.

  • jenanded replied 10 years ago

    Love it Denise....

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Very cool outfit, in all senses of the word! I am staring at those bare legs in wonder. At -38 C, that would not be possible.

  • ManidipaM replied 10 years ago

You had me at 'harem'! :-)

So totally cool. Your tonal dressing gets tricksier and better. Am so impressed that you can pull off volume on volume with 2 high-contrast leg breaks! And btw, what are those fab booties, please?

Like others, loving that little non-cinching line of white! Very bravely done and masterful.

Speaking of masterpieces, I am also loving that chair and cushion. ::sighs:: you have good taste, you know?

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

ManidipaM, thanks for the kind, kind words.  The boots are Rag & Bone Newbury.  They were a splurge but I've whittled the CPW down by wearing them frequently.

The chair and cushion (and very neat home) belong to my sister, not me.  I am visiting her at the moment in LA.  A nice home isn't in the cards for me right now, I live in a partially refurbished garage on a ranch, which is being renovated on the boyfriend plan.  Which means cheap but very, very, VERY slow.

Oh, so cool Denise!  I love the harem pants with the cropped top , and if I ever get back home again (to my closet!) I am going to try to copy this!  Hope you Fabbers had fun today!

  • rae replied 10 years ago

I can attest that it is even cooler in person! Especially with your killer pebbled leather backpack.

ETA: I went looking for your backpack online (can't find it) and saw this. Pretty darn similar except for the hardware color. More evidence of your great eye for design.

Absolutely love it and would copy it in an instant- hope there are pictures of the get together.

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

I just cannot believe somebody can go with bare legs now when I am frozen solid before I reach my car in the driveway!:-(
Denise, I think harem pants style was created specially for you: you wear it with such natural grace and panache!
    Love your style!

ETA:  just read Suz's comment: we Canadians do think alike in winter :-)

  • Neel replied 10 years ago

I don't know what I love about this outfit the most! The pants, the top, the boots or the way you pull them off together! Love it!

  • Parsley replied 10 years ago

Denise, you rock those harem pants like no other!
I'm glad you and the LA gang had a good time.

  • Adelfa replied 10 years ago

You look great in your pics and twice as good IRL.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 10 years ago

You look great in this outfit! Nicely done layers and proportions with the tee and sweater. I'm taking mental notes and wondering if I can do something similar with my harem pants. Though it will be a while before I'm baring any calves here in Seattle.
I love the jacket over the outfit, too.

  • Kiwibird replied 10 years ago

Love the harem pants, love the entire outfit - you look awesome!!!!

  • AJ replied 10 years ago

As with all your other stylings, you make this volume on volume outfit look so carefree chic, but never overdone.

Did anyone post any meet-up photos?

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Very unconventional and I'm loving it! I find it very attractive and love it with the leather jacket too. I'm copying this one! x

  • Inge replied 10 years ago

All perfect pieces, this is a brilliant look, Denise (and I too love the splash of crisp white, such a great touch). I hope the gals and you had a fabulous day!

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

Super cool! Now this is edgy and avant garde done right!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Denise, I've said it before and I'll say it again - you are a ROCK STAR!!!
