WIW December 2014

Hi and welcome to 2015!  It's been a while since I uploaded my WIWs so just for fun, here we go.

1/2 -- Worn New Year's Eve.  Both the tunic shirt and vest are from SSIF.  The necklace was an emergency purchase from the Macy's discount jewelry digging table.  Emergency because I forgot to bring jewelry with me the last time I went to the opera.

3 -- High rise AYR jeans along with my favorite Zara jacket from 2012.  I love it because it gives me shoulders.

4 -- Christmas party.  Remember the Trina Turk dress I got off eBay?  Here I am trying to make it more "me" with the same leather moto.

5 -- My at-home winter FFBO.  I know scarves are not the best thing for my short neck but they feel so soft and cozy and insulate me from the chill.

6 -- I've just realized that three out of these five outfits feature black skinnies.  Rolled.  :-)  The sweatshirt is from BLK DNM and the shirt, from The North Face.  I love the way they go together.

Thanks for looking and commenting!

ETA -- Debbie and I are Zara tunic shirt lemming sisters!

Fabulous outfits! You are looking terrific, Denise! I love the big blouse in 1 and you made a great emergency jewelry purchase. Adore the casual outfit in your natural habitat (5) and think the scarf is perfect on you!

    Love your style!
The Trina Turk dress is stunning and the color is perfect for you

You always look amazing Denise and these outfits are no exception. Are these part of your unfancy wardrobe project? If so, you have great variety here. And love the peek of what I guess is your restaurant - wow! I love 2 and 5 the most as fab as the others are too.

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Denise, you look wonderful in every one of these. And yes, continuing the theme of black and white for the most part...interesting....

But what fun to see a bit of the restaurant and to see how you have personalized that fabulous TT dress! Amazing on you. Do you think it's going to work for the cruise? I hope soe.

Love love love your FFB outfit, too. (Um...do you think that might have anything to do with its resemblance to my FFB at home outfits?? -- oops!)

And I'm also intrigued by the high waist jeans. They work on you very well. I like the idea that the high waist allows you to roll without shortening the leg line....

Great outfits Denise! I like the opera outfit and the leather jacket works both way. Love the FFBO scarf and all too!

Great set of outfits Denise.  Good to "see" you again!  I really like the FFBO outfit on you, scarf and all.  And neat to catch a glimpse of your restaurant!

And I also have that Zara top... and the AT vest... I can totally copy you!

Love this set of outfits. You look fabulous in that tunic. Adore it! That dress was a great buy for you I think.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

    Killer all round.

#1 and #2 remind me of our time in Seattle. HAPPY DAYS. And you dressed up the TT frock just beautifully (love the animal shoes).

#5 is Iconic Farm Fashionista Denise. Doesn't brown look awfully fresh at the moment?

So great to see you Denise!! I love all your outfits! I'm pretty how you paired your Trina Turk dress with your moto and accessories - awesome! But by FAR my favourite favourite favourite outfit is your FFBO. I just love it. Guess, like Suz, this is my type of fallback as well. You look like a model :)

That is so funny Denise,,,,, I was just thinking "Where the heck did CocoLion go!!!"  Poof, there's your post at the top of the chain!

I love your #2 photo.  I've copied your hair, will post soon.  I just haven't been wearing very "inspired" outfits lately, and I need a tripod for when the mood strikes me.

I can't believe how good your Ebay Trina Turk fits! I bought a resale item last week and it's on its way for YLF debut.

I think the scarf looks great on you personally.  You instinctively knew to pull your hair back and I think that makes all the difference.  I think If you keep your hair down plus have all the volume around your face and neck below, your beautiful face could get lost.

I like how you can swing between edgy, high fashion looks and more countrified ones.  It's okay to have more than just one style persona I think.

    Happy New Year!

    Angie, lolling Farm Fashionista.

Great to see you Denise - love the outfits, esp. #5 and #6 but also really like what you did to style the dress. What fun also to see a bit of your restaurant.

Hello ladies … thank you again for all of the comments!

I am not surprised 1/2 is favored as the elements come from Angie SSIF picks.  I'm kind of surprised you all like 5, the FFBO.  I almost didn't post that, with the careless hair and uneven roll job on the jeans!  Those boots are my favorites, I have them in black and brown and the are still going strong, now 4 years in.  I am sobbing that Vintage Shoe Company no longer makes this model.

Jenanded I am not doing un-fancy.com's wardrobe capsule anymore.  I did it for around a month and it was quite instructive.  Most of all it taught me that I need to compose 75% or more of my wardrobe around everyday casual items that are suitable for my Farm Fashionista lifestyle, as Angie has coined it.  I have gotten so much better, with some help from all of you, about limiting the imaginary lifestyle purchases.

Yes that is a glimpse of our cafe, it was our holiday party.  We served prime rib, I had an extra pair of ballet flats I changed into because I soon put on an apron and worked in the kitchen for most of the evening.

More love for 2. The reason I find 5 so appealing is because it's casual and cozy yet still very chic. The color combination is lovely.

  • Laurie replied 9 years ago

Add me to the 2-and-5 fan list!  I love your FFBO look, it's my absolute favorite outfit. The scarf really suits you.

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

Denise, you look fantastic.  My fave is #5 - you just look so YOU.  Also love what you've done with the dress - rock it on up!

  • Ingunn replied 9 years ago

Denise, you are so inspiring! I love all of these, both the gorgeous purple dress and your scarf outfit. You make everything seem effortless, a treat I admire.

  • rae replied 9 years ago

I always adore that moto on you! Thank you for sharing. You are inspiring me to fix the sleeves on a white tunic of mine (note to self...). Got to love a NYE outfit featuring pants and sleeves!

  • CocoLion replied 9 years ago

LOL Rae … I haven't worn a sexy NYE outfit since the 90s.

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

Oh #2 is very interesting. That to me is a different direction. It's City. It's PIB (Person in Black). I associate you with "desert colours" - sky blue, sand, a certain green. Right. I know. You totally don't live in the desert. Lol.

#4 is also very interesting to me. The hair is a new direction to me too. It's tall in front! (Sorry, I'm a hair plebe; I don't know how to describe hair). I feel like this outfit could be *office country punk*... I'm pondering ways to steal ;)

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Are you kidding, Denise? The FFBO is so fantastic. You are the epitome of effortless cool in that outfit. I love the lofty scarf on you.
The other looks are fantastic, too. Your party dress looks very you, with the jacket and the pumps, and your updo adds some special-occasion elegance. I like the tunic outfit in 1-2, also. It has a crispness that is a little different for you, maybe kind of a shadow style? You rock those high-waisted skinnies, and I like the grays on you in the last outfit.
