WIW - The Vince Leather Pants

I decided to keep these pants even though I had my doubts and they didn't gain 100% forum approval.  I wore this outfit to a poetry slam, it was fun and the poets were skilled and moving (a friend of mine competed so I was there to support him).

Picture 1 - What I wore
Picture 2 - Almost wore, shoes were too dressy

I am happy I decided to keep these wildcard pants, although my boyfriend received them only with tentative, diplomatic approval.  (What do men know.  Of course he prefers fitted bottoms on me.)  They are comfortable and luxurious at the same time, and breath well.  I also realized that with heels and another top, perhaps a silk shell, these will work for my dressier occasions like the ballet or some opera performances.

Love them! I think they look even nicer here than your k/r post, they are a great fit for you.

Great jacket! And the sneaks were perfect for a poetry thing, I would think, they have an arty casual feel.

They didn't get 100% approval? What were we thinking? These outfits are great. I have a slight preference for the one with the slip-one. I like the sporty lux look.

I love the outfit.  You know they still create a very nice slim leg line and I think your styling here is beautiful.  These should be a very versatile garment and will be perfect for the ballet or opera as you suggest.

Great outfits.  They look perfect for the events.  I also prefer the more casual look but that is just me.  Love the way you have styled them.

Wow! This is an amazingly cool outfit, Denise. I missed your K/R thread but I'm so glad you are keeping. You wear skinnies so well but it's fun to have a different silhouette in the closet too. LOVE these pants on you.

You definitely made the right choice Denise, and what a cool addition to your closet they are!

Gorgeous outfits, both of them, amazing juxtapositions. I can not believe the pants did not get complete approval, they are so cool and look amazing on you.

    LOVE. Killer x2.

Ok, I wasn't sure about these initially. #1 proves me wrong, it totally works.

  • Adelfa replied 9 years ago

Very fun! Glad you kept them!

  • Deb replied 9 years ago

You look gorgeous in both looks today......you are on to a winner with these pants.....you can style them casually or dressy and in so many ways. I imagine they'll get lots of use.

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Well styled! They look great. Both shoe options are fantastic, and really skew the outfits in different directions - casual & dressy. Wow.

Thank you ladies!  Compared to the K/R, I think it makes a difference when some foot or ankle is showing.  It breaks up the black block effect.  bj1111 made the comment that the back view wasn't JFE (and I thank her for that frank opinion and no it did not offend).  My boyfriend probably agrees but I had the mandarin collar tee semi tucked so the back U shape provided some interest to the otherwise flat expanse.

OHHHHHH.  You're inspiring me completely!  I think these are the exact pants I have - are the hems raw?  And have you rolled them up here?  TOTALLY COPYING!

  • Marley replied 9 years ago

Gorgeous Denise!  I love them with the Zara jacket.  You look beautiful!

  • CocoLion replied 9 years ago

Yes Una!  When I received them I thought immediately of yours.  These have a raw hem.  The waist is elasticized with a hook closure but not zipper or buttons.  No problem, they fit over my hips.  And yes, I have rolled them here as the crotch drops a few inches.  I can hike them up so they aren't as low rise but they seem to settle at a lower point on my hips.  There is a horizontal seam on the leg but it's subtle and doesn't cheapen the pants.

Marley I got the Zara jacket three years ago right before the YLF Swap at Vicki's house in 2012.  I almost eBayed it a few years ago but have found it to be the perfect completer piece for certain occasions, so glad I didn't sell it.

You look great!  Casual but cool - perfect for a poetry slam.

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

Love both renditions! Glad you kept the pants, I didn't have a chance to comment on your thread but for the record I was a keep.

Love this... super fun to see leather pants worn dressed down. I think these will be very versatile for you.

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

Missed the original post but these are fab & I love how you've styled them.

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

These are both fantastic outfits and you look wonderful! So glad you kept them.

I know what you mean about this style of pant "settling" a little low. I have the J. Crew Turner pant -- not leather and it has a banded cuff, but it is a very similar cut overall, and it does the same thing. I can yank them up but as I walk, they do move downwards for a slightly dropped crotch effect. I have found that a semi-tuck is most flattering, followed by a longer shirt with a crop sweater.

So glad you kept them!  LOVE the outfit!

I was another "on the fence" with your original post, but now that I see them styled, I'm glad you kept them! I like them with the slip ons.

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

These outfit look wonderful on you. Love the pants but tell me about that jacket! I want it.

  • Greyscale replied 9 years ago

    I'm glad you kept them!

  • unfrumped replied 9 years ago

Sooo glad you kept. The key feature to me is that they dress up or down and can go edgy or elegant. Plus you've identified that the looser fit may be wearable in more temperature variations.
You can't really get the same mileage out of fitted leather hoochie pants .

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

great outfit, both ways! The jacket is such an interesting print, and the colors are really nice on you. Glad you kept the pants!

  • AM replied 9 years ago

Love these. So glad you kept them!

Love this outfit, Denise.  I think this silhouette is fresh and attractive, particularly for the type of event mentioned.  Terrific!
