WIW - Gone Camo Crazy

Last season I decided camo was too young for me.  But you all thought it could be done.  Here are two camo pieces, both inexpensive so all good if I tire of the look quickly (which I am suspecting will happen).
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....at-55-long

1 -- Knock-off Equipment camo shirt from Aqua (Bloomingdale's brand).  Worn with Paige blue-black lightly coated skinnies and Rag & Bone Newbury booties; Amy Kestenberg backpack.
2 -- Reversible camo jeans (inside out is washed black) from Target.  Almost identical to Sold jeans, well made for $35.  Here worn with a screaming quantity of potentially age-inappropriate elements:  camo, skinny cropped skinnies, backpack, low rise of jeans, and logo graphic tee.  I went to the grocery store in this and they did not offer me the senior discount in this even though it was senior discount day.  Slightly disappointed not to save $2.50.
3 -- Is this a bit better with a plain tee?  I liked the neckline better of the T Rex top but this might be a little less age inappropriate.
4 -- My government shutdown present to myself.  Chan Luu American Flag bracelet.  My boyfriend thought this was a hilarious excuse to shop.

Thanks for looking.  What about you, are you jumping on the camo bandwagon?

You are just too darn cute! I really like the camo blouse--it's camo but it doesn't scream camo to me. LOVE your camo skinnies. So fun. I actually think I prefer the T Rex tee with 'em. It's more fun. Both iterations look good though. Nice bracelet.

  • replied 10 years ago

Oh you look so great in these!

  • Wendi1984 replied 10 years ago

Cute! I love the blue camo shirt on you! I think the other look is fun; it's definitely more youthful, but I wouldn't call it inappropriate; if it fits you and your style, go for it! It definitely is very casual; I'd wear it for errands or a concert.

Those reversible jeans are so great Denise!
Not overtly 'camo' and so versatile.
I would wear those if they were available here for sure.

  • texstyle replied 10 years ago

I think #2 looks great - perfectly appropriate and timeless too! I'm sitting on the sidelines of the camo bandwagon but I think you've chosen items that are not overtly camo looking so it really just is a nice subtle pattern.

That is a great camo shirt. You could hide well in against the sky. I am not sure about the sticks and greenery, though.

  • ramya replied 10 years ago

I would be all over that shirt if I find it in Norway :) Denise you look fab

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

You know what I think! That first shirt is perfect. So envious that you can tuck into skinnies....

  • Sharon replied 10 years ago

As always, you look great! Those camo jeans are fabulous and I just love the way you have styled them in #2. I agree with Wendi - you manage to create looks that are youthful, but still completely appropriate.

Since when did one need an excuse to shop? :)

  • amiable replied 10 years ago

Whoa - Love these! I want those camo jeans!

  • Marmee replied 10 years ago

Love them all, especially the camo shirt!

  • El Cee replied 10 years ago

Camo and T-Rex -- Yipee! Love it. Not age inappropriate at all... just a whole lot of fun. You look great.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Denise, you are looking luminous!  I love you in these softened tones. That first camp shirt is really a camp shirt with a difference -- you wouldn't necessarily even think of camp, looking at it -- until you look again. That's so cool! I love #3, too. The touches of black are brilliant there - using the backpack handles as accessories....

And you can't go getting the seniors' discount when you look 25! :-)

Although, I don't know if I can forgive you for the ear worm....bang a gong....

  • Tanya replied 10 years ago

Wow Denise, you look amazing in all of these! No senior discoutn for people who do not look old enough to be even 30 :-)

Those reversible camo jeans are seriously awesome.  Off to t ry to find them on Target website.

  • sarah replied 10 years ago

LOL, Denise, I just broke down and bought a camo jacket at Express having told myself for about a year that I couldn't wear such a thing. And you know what?! I love it!

I think your camo looks are great. The shirt is so unusual, it hardly qualifies as "camo". I much prefer the first tee, actually. Don't you love Target? I just bought some floral jeans there that I'm quite happy about.

Love the govt shutdown bracelet! It's always good to keep a sense of humor about these things.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Denise there is a subtlety to these camo pieces that works really well. The blue shirt is lovely on you and I think the pants look great. I find each version here more than age appropriate:). And I loved T Rex! So the tee is a winner for me:).

I bought my camo skinny pants 2 years ago and have enjoyed wearing them. Mine are in grey tones which are better for me than the green/khaki. Mine are more of a Spring weight so I will see how I feel when it warms up. They are ready and waiting I this closet but I'm not sure if I am "over them" yet or if they will get a run over the next few months. One thing In their favour is they are very comfortable;).

Love the shirt, great colours & if I looked as good as you do in camo I'd be on the bandwagon :) As it is, I'll enjoy this one vicariously.

  • kkards replied 10 years ago

love both of these camo pieces. i prefer the tee in #2 over the one in #3. i've also jumped on the camo bandwagon this year, with a pair of camo pants from BR and just last week a blue camo jacket from the gap.

  • Parsley replied 10 years ago

Yes you absolutely can wear camo, and neither of these is too crazy or OTT. The first shirt comes off as a cool abstract print, and only on second glance does one realize that it's a camo print.

What a bargain those jeans were! The camo print is subtle enough that it looks totally appropriate to me, and I like the  graphic tee with them- it's a fun and playful casual outfit.

    You look great, as always!

  • jen replied 10 years ago

    I want the T Rex Tee :)

  • shemarie replied 10 years ago

You look beautiful, Denise, and most certainly not even remotely like a senior or age-inappropriate in any way!   That blouse is so cool, as are those jeans and tee.   I just love your style and need to take some serious notes as you pull off new trends so effortlessly!

  • Peri replied 10 years ago

    Love this, especially the blouse!

  • Emily replied 10 years ago

Camo as fashion scares me, but you make it look damn good.  Those jeans are a great find for the $.  At first I thought I liked #3 best, but upon looking again I like the jeans with the trex tee.

  • Aziraphale replied 10 years ago

You always make everything look so effortlessly cool.  It's a gift.  :-)

I like camo too, although I'm pattern-resistant in general.  But I recently bought a suede camo belt that may be my most useful purchase of the year.  I swear it goes with all my stuff.

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

I love blue and this top is fabulous. The print is so expanded I could not tell that it was camo initially. Welcome to team never too old for camo ;-) !

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

Aren't you a devilishly ravishing camo crazy creature.

*throws in the cupcake to complete the ensemble"

    xo

  • Jjsloane replied 10 years ago

So cool (as always). I'm on the bandwagon if I can get my hands on that blouse!

I ordered these Gap pants and love the fit but I'm just not sure if I can see past that they are camo (AND peach)
    http://www.gap.com/browse/prod.....=600541012
I think in the peach they can just be a print right?

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

Yes, I picked up camo jeans at NAS this year.  I enjoy sporting them with black and grey and found out that wine/red works really well too.  I also have a tendency to pair them with an eagle printed top and wedge sneakers.  Count me in as a camo fan!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Yeah, I wouldn't offer you a seniors discount either! Fab outfits Denise!

  • annagybe replied 10 years ago

    I love that Aqua top.
You look great in all incarnations.

  • Neel replied 10 years ago

Senior discount is for seniors!!  You look stunning in those outfits!  I am going to *try* and copy outfit 2 :D

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

Thanks for all of the boosting and humorous replies!  And I see there are many stylish members who are venturing into camo terrain.  Or who have already been there for a few seasons.  Angie, thanks for throwing the cupcake my way!

  • Adelfa replied 10 years ago

You look gorgeous in the blue camo print. And I love the T-Rex outfit. I ordered the NAS camo pants but they just didn't look right to me and I returned them.

You look so good, all of the time!

  • Jeanie replied 10 years ago

Not on board the camo train yet but you make it look like a good place to ride!  I especially like the subtlety of the pants.

  • Ornella replied 10 years ago

I have very turbulent relationship with camo, but you make me rethink it. camo or not camo, you make such great choices no matter what.

LOL at BFs bracelet shopping comment :-)
But, now you need one in black, red and yellow to mark one side of your heritage.

  • modgrl replied 10 years ago

I am loving your camo outfits! I think they are totally appropriate. Actually my favorite outfit is with the nostalgic rock T. That is a great look. If I had camo jeans, I would totally rock it with my vintage Bowie T.

  • replied 10 years ago

I love your camo stylings! I think I prefer that they aren't the typical greens and browns too. You certainly can rock a pair of skinnies. Enjoy your cupcake, you deserve it!!
