WIW -- Swap Goodies & Angie's "Mostly Black" formula

Picture 1 -- For a business meeting, going for a suit look. The jade necklace is from Rae, I am layering it with a heart pendant. The necklaces and fringe bag soften the suit look, no?

Picture 2 -- For a women's service group meeting. Wearing a Toile de Jouy silk blouse from ClearlyClaire!

Picture 3 -- Red & Black. Do you prefer tucked or untucked for this contrasty, leg shortening look?

Picture 4 -- Angie's "Mostly Black" formula (which I am getting lots of mileage from).

I am wearing my new Matisse booties in pictures 2-3 and 4. They are super comfortable for a high heel. They are taller than most of my booties which are more like shoeties. I'm experimenting with tucking the pants into the booties but still think I prefer a leg line as in picture 1.

Denise, so cool to see your swap meet finds!!

And the jacket you're wearing is the one Ariadne bought, I think. I tried it on in this colour and didn't think it worked on me (for reasons unknown, as I had imagined it would/ should) but it looks great on you!! Love that look.

I adore you in Claire's silk blouse, too. That is a such a fun and unexpected combo.

In look 3 I actually prefer the sweater untucked even with the potential for leg shortening. Somehow it just works to my eye.

I also love #4. The curve of the jacket echoes the top. I always wonder how to wear jackets with tops that bell out that way; now I see how it's done. Of course a person needs the right jacket to do it!

I am so loving the tonal looks of #1 and 4! Perfect 10's!! I also admire the page set up work you're doing for your WIW's - looks great.

OMG, jacket on jacket = brilliant! I say tuck in #3. The pattern mix in #2 is fantastic, and the burgundy looks great.

*happy sigh* I love your outfit posts!

Fabulous outfit posts! It's nice to see the outfit "in action" in #1. But my favorite is #4. I love that combination--cool, edgy, sophisticated, modern--I keep wanting to throw in more adjectives, but I'll stop with a BRILLIANT!

Wow, love each of these (you have such a unique and wonderful style).Great use of jackets and toppers! Love that shawl/poncho, I want one! Clever how you combined two jackets, love that, too. I think i prefer the 3rd outfit 1/2 tucked, but untucked looks equally great.

Your outfits and outfit presentation are such a delight :)

#1 and #2 are my absolute best - in fact, they are KILLER to the power of KILLER - which means the very best on YLF. Not easy to achieve and you got two citations in one post. I think that's a record.

Now excuse me while I faint from your fabness.

    *faints*

I'm with Angie, #1 and #2 are my favorites.

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

Oh! And I prefer #3 untucked.

  • Jjsloane replied 11 years ago

I prefer untucked for 3 (more you) and I totally LOVE 2! Can't imagine why Claire swapped that gorgeous toile but so glad it found a great home.

  • kellygirl replied 11 years ago

You are queen of skinny jeans and you look awesome as usual! I love them all. Chic and uber cool, Denise! I love your style.

  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago

Thank you ladies! I've added a close up of the Rae necklace. It's the jade one.

JJsloane -- Claire knew I really wanted the blouse, she's that kind of girl!

Angie -- 1000 thanks for the Killer ratings! I wasn't sure if the pattern mixing outfit really worked, it's good to know I'm not completely off base.

All so so good Denise! I just love your outfits. #1 blows me away; the fringe hand-held bag is just brilliant, and the faux-suit in burgundy? Amazing. The print mix in #2 looks really fun, any way we could get a detail shot of the two prints together? #3 is a great high-contrast look, I'm always a huge fan of red+black. I MUCH prefer the tucked option there. And the layering in #4 looks awesome! Like a gradient from the back. Did you layer a more rigid jacket over a softer jacket? Man, I need to get some charcoal jeans pronto. I can't seem to find my perfect pair....

(I am also very much enjoying your photo presentation recently, btw.)

Oh the toile blouse is FAB on you Denise! Absolutely love it. And burgundy is stunning colour on as per pic #1. I also prefer the blouse untucked with the red skinnies.

  • replied 11 years ago

Oh Denise, you have just the cool-factor to pull off that blouse; it's just the thing with your tuxedo striped trousers. I never felt quite right in it. I'll have you know it cost me a whole dollar, too! I'm thrilled that you like it.

I love your burgundy trend and I like the black sweater either way. Your new photo format is fabulous and artistic. Love it! (And I'm glad you're finally getting some cooler weather. Blow some my way!) :)

Oooo, I love the tone-on-tone looks. And that Italian shawl is just gorgeous.

FWIW, I think #3 looks great both ways.

  • Caro in Oz replied 11 years ago

Love them all & untucked for #3 imo.

  • ElleH replied 11 years ago

I love all the outfits. 1 & 4 are my favorite. Untucked in 3. I prefer 2 without the jacket. Too much pattern mixing for my eye. I'm not as fashionable as you though so take it with a grain of salt:)

  • MsLuna replied 11 years ago

Denise, thanks for posting these! I've been trying to see how booties can be worn with skinnies/denim leggings and you provided such great examples on this WiW! Thanks so much and you look amazing!

Love all your outfits! #4 is my fave!

  • Kirti replied 11 years ago

Fab as always Denise :-) and I really like #3 untucked!

  • Lisa replied 11 years ago

I like #3 untucked, but I'm not a tucker myself anyway. And I adore that cape (?) in #2. It is so fun and perfect for fall.

  • Scarlet replied 11 years ago

These are all great, but I am especially crazy for the mix going on in 2. I love that jacket and those pants. In 3 I like untucked. I think the mostly black of 4 is working well.
