WIW -- More tonal looks & nature inspired outfits

I have made a passionate commitment to tonal dressing this season! Even at risk of boring you with more of the same, here are some recent WIWs.

1 -- 7FAM white "The Slim Trouser" jeans I got last year. De-orphaning them along with my already much-worn holey Willow & Clay sweater and highlighter pen colored leather belt from J Crew (also in heavy rotation).

2 -- Else yellow gold jeans from Macy's, Zara blazer from last year, cream shirt from Elements (Macy's).

3 -- Day 1 of Bella's Inspired by Nature challenge.

4 -- Day 2 from challenge. I posted these in the challenge threads already.

ETA -- Everything here has been re-mixed except for the ankle length trousers in picture #3.

First of all, WHY were those trouser jeans orphans? They look fab on you! You really have got the tonal thing down perfectly Denise - I love the "peek-a-boo" effect of your yellow belt in #1 - the sweater in this outfit is divine.

Outfit #2 has a great menswear feel to it and I love the colour mix of yellow and cream. Plus you have the most adorable accesory with this outfit!

    Outfit #3 is "relaxed chic".

Outfit #4 leaves me SPEECHLESS!!! The shapes and colours in this outfit mix so well together. Your creativity blows me away.

    That is all.

OMG, Denise! You look stunning in all of these. I think #1 is my fave. I love that sweater--the whole outfit has such an effortlessly stylish vibe. All of these are so visually interesting. Love the cool top in 3 with the low contrast bottoms. I would totally wear that! Great use of color in 2 and 4--you must be the most stylish creature in town! Gorgeous!

Denise: Wonderfully fab remixes! I can see your love for tonal ensembles, and am so impressed by your ability to keep to your own, distinctive style while creating such variety of colors and textures. I'm drawn to the relaxed silhouette of #1 and the great color of #4. Love the shoes in #4, too!

  • ManidipaM replied 11 years ago

We will never tire of Tone-on-Tone Denise! Enough said.

Ok, since I'm always verbose, can I just add that I think #1 is PERFECTION?! What a way to help an orphan feel the love!

  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago

Whoa YLF... you are all so kind and generous with your praise. Thank you! It means a lot, as for the most part, I defy my environmental norm and don't get a whole lotta love.

But while I was at the grocery store dressed in #4, I did manage to attract the attention of a student from the local beauty school. She was buying a bag of Jolly Ranchers, I had chicken. She said "you don't see looks like these in Sonora." She's a student and gave me her card, offering to work on me! I thought it was really cute, as she was still in high school. (The cosmetology/hair school is connected with the high school, providing vocational training.) Do you think I should chance it? Her hair was layered and sort of pink underneath.

  • Kiwichik replied 11 years ago

Good grief how could you think that anyone coukd be bored with your mastery of tonal dressing. Each look is better than the next - way to go.

As for the student offer - shampoo & blowdry plus facial would be low risk but steer clear of the hair cut.

  • Kate replied 11 years ago

    Especially love #1 and #2.
