WIW -- Can't get myself to unroll the boyfriends

Themes --
-Plenty of remixing, you'll see the same pieces in several of the pictures.
-Inspired to try my hand with scarves. I'm still afraid of the bulky ones. As you can see from #6 I could use some scarf tutorials. I love the new one in #1, the tags should come off don't you think? It's a giant digital print scarf of London telephone booths.
- Angie's WIW with unrolled bf jeans inspired me to try it, but I just couldn't do it. Old habits die hard.
- #5 is my elevated sweatsuit outfit that Tim Gunn talks about needing. I'm looking for a pair of slipper flats to go with this formula (tee, sweater, jeans for loungewear).
- In #6 I actually tried folding the jeans to an ankle length, with a sliver of skin showing. I wore this outfit to work, except with different shoes (my trusty Sanita clogs).

Love your casual looks and incorporation of scarves. Here's a neat link to a video for 25 ways to tie a scarf. Maybe it will give you some ideas. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LYAEz777AU

Well, this was perfect timing! I just posted about an outfit I was debating to cuff or not (I have very little cuffing experience). I guess it's all in what you get used to! These all look extra fab and stylish, I'm thinking that uncuffed they would look good too, but I think the cuffing makes them look more "of the moment" and much more stylish! All great photos, they look like a catalog shoot!

So fab, Denise! I love your style so much I want to marry it! So chic, so tough yet tender!

And #4 in particular just slays me!

That first jacket and the last cardi - those are incredible. Great interest provided with those.

But you have such flare! All outfits are outstanding. I find it very interesting to see you "weatherize" your general style for fall/winter. Seamless, not an awkward step!

I like the jeans rolled with the booties. To my eye, I need to see the roll to complete the boyfriend look even though I know it's not necessary. I've been wondering how to keep the boyfriends going through the colder weather and your outfits inspire me. I think I need to find some booties that cover my ankles. And a "giant digital print scarf of London telephone booths"? How fun! I hope I stumble across one at TJ Maxx!

Love the looks! Great scarf tutorial, btw :)

You look great like you always do, but I especially love the tough-chic vibe of 1 and 2. Cut the tags! I have no idea about tying scarves despite how much I wear them. I mostly flop them on some way or other in front of the mirror until I am satisfied and call it a day.

ETA: oh yes, I meant to add that I think the unrolled BF is a look that requires some eye adjustment. I am just getting there myself (not on myself- I still haven't adjusted to BF's, but on others).

I am loving your lookbook series quite a bit. So much inspiration here on winterizing the BF's. I am yet to try a fall look.

You are such a rock star! I wish I could dress like you all the time - if only I didn't have to work in an office! (even if it's my own office....) Love the leather and denim looks so much. And this is a great format for showing your outfits.

No need to unroll Denise if that's not your thing - your BF looks fab the way he is! LOOOOOOVE #1!

  • K. Period. replied 11 years ago

Denise, I absolutely love your rolled jeans and ankle booties looks. I can imagine they would be hard to unroll. When something looks that fabulous, it is hard not to stick with it.

You are always such an inspiration. I adore the cohesiveness of your style. You always look like you, fabulous, wonderful, fashionista you. Sorry for the gushing, but I just love that about you and needed to tell you.

  • rachylou replied 11 years ago

It's true... Denise never looks like she's playing dress-up in someone else's closet.

Which begs the question what our CocoLion would do to make office suits, etc. her own. You know she'd fix it somehow!

Trinity -- great scarf tutorial, it's been bookmarked. Thank you! It turns out the technique I was aiming for was the "waterfall," need to go back and look at it once more.

Carole -- we are now cuffing sisters!

MaryK -- you are endlessly funny, you chose words like no one else!

Rachy -- like I wrote on the image the last cardi is from Kohl's Rock & Republic line. I make sure to check out their stuff every time I go in there. I actually like their designs for Kohl's better than when they were a premium denim line. I'm glad they've gotten rid of the sequin "R"s on the butt.

Henley -- You definitely need ankle covering booties. They are a must now that you are loving skinny jeans.

Scarlet -- it sounds like we have the same random scarf tying technique. If you discover anything new, let us know.

Zap, Alaska Shannon and Biscuit -- thanks! I also appreciate the format appreciation, good to know the 45 minutes it took me to make these pictures wasn't in vain. There's something so zen like about resizing pictures...

K can Shop -- you are so sweet to gush and it is quite possibly releasing more dopamine into my system.

Thanks for sharing, I'm really enjoying your look books.
    The scarves work well imo.

  • kellygirl replied 11 years ago

Your look books are so much fun. I love reading them. Of course, these old eyes of mine wish I could see the photos closer up! Every one of these is so true to your style--love the elevated casual style. You are rocking the scarves. Rip of the tags! Fab all the way around!

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

I hereby crown you Queen ROLLED Boyfriend Jeans. If it's not broken - don't fix it :)

All these outfits scream "Denise" in the best possible way. I love looking at your outfits and poses. Cut the tags!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Cut those tags! You have a killer Signature Look going here. Love love love the coat in 3 and the jeans in 4. Your BF roll is probably about as low as my own BFs *unrolled*, so I think it's perfectly fine to leave yours rolled all winter. :)

  • Mo replied 11 years ago

I'm also of the thought that if it's not broke, don't fix it! This is perfectly you. Why change that? And I'm with you on feeling like a scarf newbie. The few I have I just throw around my neck a couple of times and call it done lol.

  • Debora replied 11 years ago

You are such an inspiration, Denise. I just adore your style and every one of these looks. I wouldn't change a thing!
