WIW -- Bright colors

#1 -- Caslon sweater, Sanctuary Surplus coral skinnies, Baker's grey oxford heels, MK clutch. Inge-recommended pendant from Shopbop (brand?).

#2 -- F21 striped sweater, Rag & Bone cobalt skinnies, ditsy floral button down from TJ Maxx, Emporio Armani snap-front trench from 9 years ago. Booties from Dr. Scholl's (last year).

I lost the belt to the trench but think I can still wear it open. Or, I can get it shortened and use the fabric to make a belt. It is a very well "Made in Italy" garment.

Thanks for looking and any solutions for the orphaned trench are welcome. I am still keeping the London Fog trench.

OMG !! FAB FAB FAB !!! I just love tonal colors. That first one is just fantastic. You look like a beautiful flower. I think that you are correct about the trench.

  • Parsley replied 12 years ago

Both of these bright outfits are terrific, Denise!
I love the two shades of coral in the first one - such a pretty color on you, and a great edgy silhouette. The cobalt is equally fab, and even though I usually hate ditsy florals, it totally works here with the bold cobalt and stripes.

As for the trench, I have seen people wear them with a chunky leather belt, and it can look good, but if it were mine I'd just cut the belt loops off and wear it as is.

These are both beautiful, but the first look is truly out of the park! I love the colors and the silhouette on you with the touches of grey.

  • Kirti replied 12 years ago

Wow! You really are the queen of tonal outfits! I especially love #1 :)

Woo-hoo! I can't get enough brights lately. I LOVE the coral outfit, so fresh and fab. The cobalt and stripes is stunning on you. How clever to layer under a ditsy floral.

I'd try a long sturdy scarf or a man's belt for your trench. A very Parisian solution! You look marvelous!

These are great! I am really enjoying your tonal dressing this spring! Soft grey with coral is genius.

The trench looks great as is. Perhaps a leather belt would work, too.

Hooray, a Denise photo post!!! I am so plonking over that first outfit. You look about six feet tall there. The colors are divine on you!

  • christieanne replied 12 years ago

Divine! You do that tonal dressing just perfectly - effortlessly chic.

Trench is cool open (and I would cut off loops myself but I hate belts) and to shorten just to make a bench seems too much effort. Tried the scarf trick?

  • Angie replied 12 years ago

LOVE the tonal effect of #1. Divine!!! That's an amazing look on you, Denise. I want to see more!

Very nice rugby-striped outfit too :)

  • annagybe replied 12 years ago

    They both totally work!

Here's some ideas for belts. I like the corset belt and the super-long looped one

Both are terrific looks on you! Tonal but bright, neutral shoes, skinny bottom, volume on top. A winning formula!

Fab times two times a million! The first one, in particular, is making my head explode!!! (In a good way!!)

  • Jaime replied 12 years ago

Stunning both of them. Love the pendant in #1, love the trench over the gorgeous blue in 2.

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 12 years ago

Love them both Denise but coral is a particular favorite of mine this year. I really like the loose top with the skinny jeans and the grey booties finish it off beautifully.

  • Suz replied 12 years ago

Fantastic, Denise! I think #1 might be one of my have looks of yours EVER. But then, I get the temptation to say that with every outfit you post!! Seriously, though, this one is a stunner. Love the red and pink and adore it with the grey accents. The clutch is so much fun.

I really like the blue look, too. As usual, Anna comes through with some great suggestions. Trench looks great as is, too, but I can see how that might not be the most practical!

  • krishnidoux replied 12 years ago

Oh, lovely! To die for. Especially #1. The epitome of perfect styling of brights. Proportion are a song. Thanks for sharing!

These are fabulous outfits, CocoLion! I love the tonal outfit #1 (those are two of my favorites colors, too!). You are the queen of colored skinny jeans!

  • AJ replied 12 years ago

You are a master with colored skinnies!

#1 reminds me of this inspiration pic that I have. (source: tumblr.elle.com/)

Good idea to put the floral b.d. under the striped sweater in the second outfit.

Keep an eye out tomorrow for a post from Taylor on how she wears her trench coats!

  • ManidipaM replied 12 years ago

Florals and stripes under a duster-ish coat is just too cool, Denise!

And as for the first look, I haven't enough superlatives. It is a masterclass in tonal styling! The garnish of grey-toned neutrals from your shoes and bags are just genius on top of that.

My favourite used to be your tone-on-tone patterned blouse over the dark red skinnies; then the green with the button-up and sweater; then you did that mad-fab yellow&beige; but this has to be my new favourite...!

  • jenanded replied 12 years ago

Both outfits are just lovely! Love the pinks!!! But also the trench and blues are very sharp as well...

  • Scarlet replied 12 years ago

You look great Denise. I love outfit 1! I also really love the mix of the graphical stripes with the floral button down.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 12 years ago

You look STUNNING in #1 Denise! Those colours and that silhouette are absolutely gorgeous. Love #2 as well. You wear tonal looks sooooo well.

  • greenglove replied 12 years ago

Tonal in Number one is perfection! Love the other but not as much as one.

  • Jem replied 12 years ago

I love them both, especially 1!!
