WIW -- Blogger Copycat (loose interpretation)

Thank you MaryK for starting this challenge. Here's my contribution.

Don't know the blogger's name, I got this off of Angie's Pinterest Board. I am going to get a lot of mileage out of this plaid and stripes concept, it's great fun!

Neat! I like how instead of a neutral outfit and bright shoe, you did bright outfit with neutral shoe.

  • Raisin replied 11 years ago

Very interesting outfit! Something I wouldn't have the nerve to try, but it looks so right!

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 11 years ago

I love that you chose an outfit that you now say inspired you and you will get a lot of mileage out of.... A huge benefit to this challenge,....

It's like Pee-Wee Herman goes punk. Or was it Urkel. Love it anyways. Now I wish I had plaid pants.

  • replied 11 years ago

    I love that on you!

  • JR replied 11 years ago

You are so much braver than I am. But that is not news... This pushes past my comfort zone when it comes to pattern-mixing, which is not to say you shouldn't do it.

Thanks for the comments ladies. If you can think of ways to improve this look, let me know! (Smaller stripes, navy stripes, dark shoes, more fitted pants?)

I sized up on these pants, I purposely wanted baggy pants, but am now thinking a smaller size might have been better. Oh well. They are super comfortable!

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Love this on you, Denise! The pants are sensational. And I would never have thought to pair them with stripes, but wow, it works!

  • Sveta replied 11 years ago

I think it is a super outfit, Denise. Plaid trousers are so much fun, aren't they? You did make this copycat your own!

  • Diana replied 11 years ago

Love the plaid and stripes combo! I really want some plaid pants.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Pattern mixing fabulocity!!! LOVE those plaid pants on you - I wouldn't change the size Denise.

  • Carole replied 11 years ago

Wow, you look fantastic, what a fun outfit! You have a unique and amazing style I love seeing, thanks for sharing.

  • soobee replied 11 years ago

Great interpretation of this look, you really make this your own :) Love the pants, love this challenge!

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

The plaid pants are fantastic and I love how the sharp shoulders work with this outfit. Great interpretation!

  • MsMary replied 11 years ago

    I love it!

Now all you need are some Valentino pumps! :)

  • Parsley replied 11 years ago

    Fun and adventurous!
I do love those plaid pants.

The blogger is Andy Torres, from stylescrapbook.com , btw.

  • Joy replied 11 years ago

I love this too and wouldn't change a thing. Smaller stripes just wouldn't be as fun. You might see what black and white stripes look like with this for something different and slightly more conservative. Have you tried a floral with the plaid pants yet?

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Denise I know we all agree we kind over use this word, but this look IS 'cool'. I love the pattern mix and now I want a pair of plaid pants... they are officially on my list for next Autumn. Love the clutch and the neutral booties. Brilliant!

  • replied 11 years ago

I love your version Denise! Glad you sized up on the pants; don't second guess yourself.

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Yours is so much better! I feel the punk spirit washing off this photo. The baggy size of the pants is *perfect*. It would look too Hot Topic 2002 with tight pants.

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Oh Denise, I looooove your version! The inspiration is a bit more preppy feeling, yours feels more punk rock. YES! I think the pants are perfect, though I don't mind tighter plaid pants (mine are tighter). That JACKET is killing me though, wow it's so very awesome. And now I want to copy your look!

  • Asingh replied 11 years ago

Great look, and I really like how you've taken inspiration from that photo and transformed it to another colour palette!

  • goldenpig replied 11 years ago

Neat! You look like a cool punk rock Debbie Harry! Fearless pattern mixing! Love those red plaid pants!

  • Marley replied 11 years ago

OK - I just got to try to find some clothing items in my closet to copy this look. I LOVE your interpretation of it Denise! Is the jacket camo? So cool!

  • JenA replied 11 years ago

I love this "urban grunge" look. I like both the pattern and style of the pants. They work really well with the striped shirt, both in cut & color. I know that I am now gushing, but that jacket is awesome too. I think the blogger's look was "soft" and i like how you made your look edgier (through the jacket and unique color combo). Your style is inspirational -- especially how you pair the unexpected.

  • Ingunn replied 11 years ago

Urban chic! I admire how you put this together so well. What a fabulous outfit this is on you! I think the size of the pants looks quite right.

  • Lisa replied 11 years ago

I think this is the most clever pattern mix I've seen yet. I just adore the plaid trousers and the stripes really tie in the look because the color coordinates so well. Isn't it amazing how versatile striped tops are?

  • JulieJohn replied 11 years ago

Bold and it works great! You took the look and made it yours so nicely. Ro-coco + copycat = CocoLion!

  • replied 11 years ago

Ah man, she is wearing those Valentino pumps....
I think your interpretation is way cooler, by the way.

  • Freckles replied 11 years ago

I find that the inspiration photo looks like she got dressed in the dark while your interpretation looks inspired and au courant.
