Angie Pick Tahari Jacket plus Amazon Bargain Cardi

This jacket was an Angie pick.  After trying two sizes, I settled on the smaller size.  I got some matching cropped leggings to go with the jacket.  Of course I have light purple sneakers.  Goodness seeing how revealing the backside is, I doubt I will wear these leggings in public again.

I thought wearing this outfit would make me feel good.  I was diagnosed last week with shingles.

I am resting as much as I can.  I had some bad days this week but decided to put on outfits (rather than sweatpants) to cheer up the shingles blues.  Based on the fact that I can even get up, I would say I have a mild to middling case.  Not severe.  The pain comes at night.

The second outfit was today, another "good" day.  I got this sweater for next to nothing off Amazon.  The sneakers are an Angie pick from Blackstone, a brand that actually fits my high volume foot quite well.  I spent more time than I care to admit, creating Golden Goose style laces.  It was that or spend $600 for a real pair.  I have to say getting the laces tied in that unique way satisfied my urge to purchase the Super Stars; I saved so much money!

Both the new jacket and the new cardigan look perfect on you! Love the tonal purple outfit and the jacket is super cute. The cardigan outfit looks also amazing - the cardigan looks soo chic and you paired it with a perfect pair of jeans. The cognac top and belt are fabulous color to complete the look. Lovely with the scarf as well. Now, I have to google Golden Goose style laces … ha, ha, ha. Living in oblivion here.

I hope you will soon feel better and sending healing thoughts!

These are great- I like the sweater especially on you! Sorry about the shingles though. They're The Worst :(

  • Bijou replied 3 years ago

You look so beautiful in both outfits, the backside is not too revealing at all, I wish I had such a lovely rear view! Well done on getting the Golden Goose look without the price tag, there is something so very satisfying about projects like that. I hope you get better soon as this year has been such a tough one for you. Small pleasures (even if they are shoe laces) are good medicine as well as lots of rest.

Thank you for posting, it is always a delight to see your WIWs.

Ooh that puffer is both unique & flattering - is it still warm below the waist though (where the peplum ruffles begin)?

So sorry to hear about the shingles. Here's to 2022 hopefully being better!

  • Tanya replied 3 years ago

I am so sorry to hear about the shingles.  I wish you a seedy recovery.

I love the lilac jacket and the whole outfit on you, super cute, and not too revealing.  I we are jacket twins, but I am yet to wear mine.  The light blue cardigan is lovely as well, and I like the styling.  Also, great job witht the sneakers.

  • kkards replied 3 years ago

So lovely to see you, even if the reason you have time on your hands to post is because your not well. Hoping that you continue to feel good(ish) and recover quickly

i love the lilac outfit, and i hear you about being self conscious about wearing the leggings in public, but really i wouldn’t worry about it -they look great.
and the blue sweater is a fab color and i like how you used a toffee colored tee instead of white, a little unexpected and so interesting

  • Janet replied 3 years ago

Ohhh, I hope you feel better very soon! A good course of acyclovir can really help. Thanks for the reminder that I need to get my vaccination!

That jacket is so good on you! And no worries about your rear view — if I looked that good, I’d wear those pants all the time! You look terrific and I’m impressed with your efforts during a tough time. Sending hugs from the east coast!

Glad you found a way to save money and satisfy the urge. I hope you feel better soon!

Lovely outfits! The jacket is spectacular. Adore the ruffles. Wish you speedy recovery :)

  • kellygirl replied 3 years ago

Feel better soon. You look nothing short of spectacular in both. I love the new puffer with the peplum and the lavender tights look fab front and rear!! Do not hesitate to wear them. YLF!

  • Aquamarine replied 3 years ago

Great outfits…YLF even if you don’t feel 100%. Hope it passes quickly with no lingering after effects.

  • slim cat replied 3 years ago

Everything looks great on you -  front and back ;) .
Hope you will feel better soon!

  • Suz replied 3 years ago

Denise, I'm so sorry about the shingles! UGH. Not fun. I hope you will recover quickly.

You look great in everything, of course, but what fun to have a lilac ensemble at the ready. I really love the pale blue on you and the matching sneakers/ scarf/ sweater. Beautiful!

Well, you all really know how to make a woman feel better!  All of your thoughts and words gave me a physical boost of well being when I read them.

I am going to take this moment to be a bossy friend here by imploring everyone to get Shingrix the vaccine.  We are living in extraordinarily stressful times so viruses like these are more likely to present.  The shingles virus (varicella-zoster) lies dormant in your spinal column and re-activates during times of stress especially after age 60.  The vaccine is approved for those 50 plus and it lasts around 4 years.  Now I have to wait one year before I get the vaccine but I'm going to get it even though most people only get shingles once.  My father had it much worse than I; he suffered permanent nerve damage.  Also I have read that there is a connection between shingles and cardio-vascular events (heart disease, stroke).

Patients with shingles were more likely to be female and common risk factors for stroke and heart attack, such as old age, high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol, were also more commonly seen in these patients. However, this group was also less likely to smoke, have a lower alcohol intake, more exercise and be part of a higher socioeconomic class.

Shingles was found to raise the risk of a composite of cardiovascular events including heart attack and stroke by 41 percent, the risk of stroke by 35 percent and the risk of heart attack by 59 percent.

    /Bossy friend over and out.

The puffer is so cute and looks great with your matching leggings and sneakers! I also really love the cardigan outfit. I'm with Katerina, gotta look up the Golden Goose style lacing. But yes, completely re-doing shoelaces takes a surprising amount of time.
I'm so sorry to hear about your case of shingles; good that it sounds milder than some. And I appreciate the PSA. Oddly enough, the couple of times I've asked my doctor about getting the vaccine, she has suggested putting it off. Not because she doesn't think I need it, but the most recent time was because I needed this season's flu vaccine, and she suggested not getting them at the same time. So I need to go back for the shingles vax.

I love love your colours. Love. I say just keep an eye out for lavender jeggings… it’s a smashing look.

  • Jaime replied 3 years ago

So sorry about the shingles! And thank you for the bossy information - I think shingles are less common here and I wasn't really aware. I will look into it.
Anyway, apart from that, you look fab! Nothing at all wrong with your back view, although I am still not completely adjusted to leggings as pants (despite one daughter and one sister being complete devotees). I LOVE the color combination and entire look of the second outfit on you.

  • DonnaF replied 3 years ago

I really love the lilac capsule but of course you look wonderful in the cardi as well.

DH who had the Shingrix vaccine suffered four consecutive bouts of shingles because he takes immunosuppressants. His aunt brought on his first bout. No fun. At least it isn’t contagious like Covid.

  • Brooklyn replied 3 years ago

Such pretty colours on you. I like the outfit with the jumper and scarf together in particular.

    Sorry about the shingles.

  • hereforthecake replied 3 years ago

You look great in both of these! I'm so sorry about the shingles, because I know it's a nightmare.

    Sending you healing thoughts.

  • Angie replied 3 years ago

I'm sooooo sorry about your shingles, sweet Denise. Very painful, and hang in there. Rest up with your doggies and take care.

Nothing stops you from looking KILLER sensational, though! Absolutely rocking the lilac Tahari puffer, and the light blue/earthy look! Pastels have become your thing, and are sublime on you :)

  • Aquamarine replied 3 years ago

Hubs and I both had Shingrix. I had a tough time with both doses, hubs was fine. Worth it though…sister-in-law came down with Shingles last year (did not get the vax) and really suffered.

  • Suz replied 3 years ago

I got the Shingrix vax. I didn't know (or didn't remember) that it expires...oh oh. Will have to check that.

It's my impression that shingles have become much more common among younger and younger people. My step-son (in his early 40s) had shingles last spring.

  • CocoLion replied 3 years ago

Here are some Golden Goose sneakers and the unique tie technique.

  • replied 3 years ago

I admit to being tempted by that blue amazon sweater but my limited experience by their cheap imports like this that are direct from the factory has been poor.  But the details ! And it looks so good on you - but everything does, so there is that - haha.

I also admit to having scoured photos of GG sneakers to see how they are laced when I read this post last week, and still can't see what I'm looking for. Looks the same as every other sneaker lacing technique to my eye - what am I not seeing?

Sorry about the shingles situation - I'm actually getting a prescription for the vaccine in a week or so and it's not happening soon enough as far as I'm concerned.

  • MsMary replied 3 years ago

OH,NO!! SHINGLES!! I had them last year, early in the pandemic, and it was awful!! I've been telling everybody who will listen to get the vaccine! In fact, you have inspired me to get my second Shingrix shot today!!

And you look AMAZING, despite it all! I got that cute jacket, too, but haven't had a chance to wear it yet!

  • Jonesy replied 3 years ago

I am so sorry to hear about your shingles diagnosis! I hope you can rest a lot and improve swiftly! These colors look beautiful on you--I love the jacket and the sweater. Re. the leggings: I think light-colored leggings always reveal a lot more than black or navy, IYKWIM?

  • Laurie replied 3 years ago

You look so good! That jacket is unique and really pretty.

Bummer about shingles....so sorry. I am headed for the first dose of the shingles vax this weekend after getting flu and pneumonia shots a few weeks ago. Then I will be all up to date. For now. Did not know about that high correlation between shingles and higher risk for cardiovascular issues. Extra incentive, thanks for the information.

  • Style Fan replied 3 years ago

You look lovely in both outfits.  The lilac colour is pretty.  The jeans look fabulous on you.  Perfect fit.
I had the shingles vaccine a few years ago.  I have heard shingles is awful.  I hope you feel better soon.

  • RobinF replied 3 years ago

I like both of these but love that blue color on you! So pretty!

Sorry to hear about the shingles, sounds like no fun at all. I should probably consider getting it but I really hate needles! Then again, I'm pretty sure I would hate shingles too so.....
