Need inspiration, attending brother's -- ETA PICTURES

Tonight inside Yosemite Valley. Any ideas of what to wear? There will be lots of gear I'm sure but generally the climbing crowd is very attractive. As the sister of a well-known climber, I have no idea what I even want to convey. Just a part of the audience? I prefer being a little more fashion-forward than that.

ETA -- pictures and event update.

It turns out his speech is tomorrow. And I have a conflict!! Tomorrow I have tickets to see Mary Chapin Carpenter, with whom I attended jr. high school. So I have to pick one. Oh No! Decisions! I have so few exciting events (that offer smart casual dressing opportunities), it really sucks that they fall on the same date when I also don't have to work.

1 -- Grey under Zara jacket with heels.
2/3 -- Navy oversized swing top (same as grey one above), and tux jeans, Zara jacket. Plus 1.5" chelsea boots, given uneven terrain in park, this might be wise.
4/5 -- Same as above except J Crew v neck tee. Not so leg shortening given shorter hemline.

Can you wear jeans to the event, Denise? So exciting!!

  • Inge replied 11 years ago

How about a fab pair of skinny jeans, one of your beautiful blazers, perhaps the J.Crew striped popover (orange and navy?) and a stylish clutch?

    Have a marvelous time tonight!

    Wow, fab!!

I agree with the jeans and jacket formula, along with a great pair of wedges (which will show you are not a gearette). Depending on weather, maybe that ONly Mine sweater? Don't know how it works under a jacket but I like the idea. Or weren't you the one who wore sparkle and a jacket to inspire me? ;-) That would be fun, too.

And I'm thinking of the stunning Zara jacket that you got at the swap!

Great suggestions! I love the idea of wearing the Zara jacket Angie. I have some new dark grey jeans from Paige via Nordstorm, I'll break those out. Or maybe my Rag & Bone tux jeans with that jacket. Pictures to follow!

If it were me I'd wear jeans, boots, and an edgy jacket... But I'd wear that to everything. So cool! You have to let me know if he ever comes up here to speak!

  • Caro in Oz replied 11 years ago

I'm sure you'll look amazing! An edgy jacket is always cool imo.

It all sounds fabulous, Denise. Whatever you choose to wear will be KILLER. There is no doubt in my mind :)

(Loved your arm candy blog post comment btw, and responded to it. And you cracked me up with your comment on yesterday's Westfied Style blog post too).

You are sweetalicious on these pics! Love the first two outfits.

All are fab, but I vote 2/3! Have fun whichever you choose.

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Wow, Denise, I love them all! What an awful choice!! How are you going to choose? I love MChapinCarpenter. Hubs and I used to listen to her a lot when we were courting.

I honestly can't tell you which outfit is better. They are all just completely FAB!

  • Caro in Oz replied 11 years ago

I can't choose either - they all look fantastic. Which feels right to you?

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

I like #1 best. K- word worthy for sure.

Now go be gorgeous and stunning at your brothers event!!!

  • KathyL replied 11 years ago

I like the first outfit! Hope you haves great time at whichever event you choose.

  • kellygirl replied 11 years ago

No way! Mary Chapin Carpenter? How awesome is that! Next you'll tell me you live next door to the Indigo Girls! Love both outfits with the column of color--grey and black versions. They really let that fab jacket shine!

You went to school with MCC? That's too cool - I listened to her a lot, despite my general dislike of country music - she's more folksy which I like and I love her Cajun tunes.

I love the first outfit so so much and the second one too. :)

  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago

Thanks for the input. I actually felt best in the last outfit, because the swing top only works with heels IMO. So it depends on which pair of shoes I go for: flat booties or 3" wedges.

BTW pictures 2 and up all feature navy pants or a navy top, not black.

Late but I also like the last outfit best.

You look gorgeous in any of these Denise - have a wonderful time - whatever you choose!

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

Denise isn't it always the way? I really like #1 as I find the grey very flattering on you and works beautifully with the jacket. But they all look fabulous so you can't go wrong with whichever you choose.
